There aren’t many cities that can boast a glaciated volcanic mountain within their metro region. Mt Rainier, or as it’s referred to locally “the Mountain” is the tallest mountain in Washington state, located just 54 miles southeast of Seattle. On any clear day in the city it is impossible to miss and is an absolutely breathtaking sight. This beautiful mountain is clearly visible from many windows in the house. While enchanting to view it’s also a National Park filled with old growth forests, glaciers, camping, hiking, climbing etc, all easily accessible from Seattle. It’s just one of the many reasons I love living in Washington state.
